Revolutionary Genetic Coding
Genetic code identification coupled with Prometheus-created genetic markers related to desirable traits (fast growth, low feed conversion rates, disease resistance, etc.) produces fish and shrimp brood stock whose superior offspring insure the highest quality production as well as profit. Dr. Adriana Artiles-Valor
Dr. Artiles-Valor is one of the world’s most accomplished research scientists in the field of aquaculture but her expertise is not limited to marine life. Her work with humans includes molecular genetic, vascular, and epidemiologic research. As head of the molecular biology department at Cuba’s Fisheries Research Center, she became intimately familiar working with fish and shrimp, Penaeus vannamei, in particular. She is highly skilled in cross-disciplinary research in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Genetics, and Immunology. Those skills include the application of Microsatellites, PCR, RT-PCR, DNA and RNA purification, horizontal and vertical electrophoresis, Immunostaining, bacterial cells culture, Patch Clamp, and pharmacological electrophysiology technology to fish and shrimp.
Dr. Tim T. Aberson
Dr. Tim T. Aberson is an accomplished health practitioner and financial resource expert. His interest in health and nutrition led to his involvement in the future of aquaculture technology and its place within the environment. His belief that Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology can and will play a significant role sourcing quality marine protein, improving the world’s oceans by diminishing overfishing and by-catch waste, and becoming a sound financial profit center, led to his full time involvement in sustainable aquaculture development. Dr. Aberson recently took on a new role as President and CEO of Prometheus Progeniture Technologies, Ltd., which is focused on building and operating the most globally important and scientifically comprehensive, wholly-owned genetics research and development center for marine protein. Additionally, Dr. Aberson serves as President of Perciformes Group as well as Investment Director for Global Blue Technologies and its affiliated companies.
Dr. Carolina Stephenson
Dr. Carolina Stephenson, Research Associate at Prometheus Progenitor Genetics Technologies, Ltd., graduated from the University of Campinas (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in Biological Sciences and obtained her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the same institution. Dr. Stephenson has more than 10 years of experience in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Genetics, working in different laboratories throughout Brazil and the U.S., developing and troubleshooting experiments while leading research projects and research groups with diverse backgrounds. Her skills include PCR, qPCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), Western Blot, ELISA, cell culture (mammalian, bacterial, iPSC), cloning, transfection (plasmid, siRNA), transduction (lentiviral), RNA interference (RNAi), and CRISPR-Cas9.
Global seafood trade is bigger than beef, pork, poultry, and lamb trades combined. To this end, Prometheus’ scientific mission is to integrate every genotypic and phenotypic breakthrough achieved toward improving the commercial viability of the subject specie within the global aquaculture industry.
